In a lot of guests and friends' presence Art Gallery - Museum
“Philippopolis” was officially opened оn 17 September
2003.
Аs a first exposition were presented pictures by Anastas Konstantinov,
Angel Pachamanov, Vassil Stoev, Valchan Petrov, Dimitar Kirov,
Nikolaj Kuchkov and Hristo Stefanov.

Anastas
Konstantinov was born on 29 March 1956 in Peshtera. He finished
the High School of Fine Arts in Kazanlak in 1976 and speciality
of painting at the University of “Kiril and Metodii”
in Veliko Tarnovo in 1982. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian
artists in Plovdiv since 1985.
His first independent exhibition was in Plovdiv in 1983. From
1983 to 2003 he participated in 51 independent and collective
exhibitions in Plovdiv, Sofia, Haskovo and Dimitrovgrad. During
this period he exposed his pictures in Belgium, Austria, Poland,
Spain, Holland, Greece, France, the USA, Hungary, Finland, Germany,
Switzerland, Canada, Luxemburg.
His pictures are kept in the National Art Gallery in Sofia, the
Public Art Gallery in Sofia, the State Art Galleries in Plovdiv,
Dobrich, Pleven, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, the Museum of the Modern
Art in New York, private collections in Europe, The USA and Japan.
In 1999 he opened the gallery “Anastas” which now
presents his personal work.
He is a bearer of a special prize from the first biennial of painting
- small format, Torun - Poland.

Angel
Pachamanov was bon in 1944 in Galabovo. He finished the High School
of Fine Arts in Sofia in 1964 and monumental arts in the National
Academy of Fine Arts in the class of Professor Mitjo Tanovski
in 1976. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian artists since
1985. From 1981 to 1985 he was a teacher in the High school of
Fine Arts in Plovdiv; from 1993 to 1996 he was a president of
The Association of Plovdiv artists.
His first independent exhibition was in 1988. From 1988 to 2002
he participated in 26 independent and collective exhibitions in
Plovdiv, Varna, Sofia. During this period he exposed his pictures
in Switzerland, Italy and Germany. His pictures are property of
galleries and private collections in Belgium, Switzerland, France,
The United States of America, Italy, German, Greece, England,
Portugal, Turkey and Canada.
He was awarded with prize for sculpture of metal, vodka „Absolute”
in 1997; a prize „Plovdiv” for fine art in 2002.

Vassil
Stoev was born on 7 August 1950 in Parvomay. He finished applied
black and white drawing at National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia
in the class of Professor Alexsandar Poplilov in 1979. He is a
member of the Union of Bulgarian artists since 1987 and the “Philippopolis”
group.
His first Independent exhibition was in 1981. From 1981 to 2003
he participated in 79 independent and collective exhibitions in
Sofia, Plovdiv, Karlovo, Burgas, Sevlievo. During this period
he exposed his pictures in Austria, Germany, The United States
of America, Turkey, Italy, Malta, Belgium, France, Russia, Poland,
Finland, Greece, Switzerland, Holland, Japan, Portugal and Yugoslavia.
His pictures are property of the National Art Gallery in Sofia,
the Public Art Gallery in Sofia, Plovdiv and Burgas, as well as
galleries in Malta, France, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, Italy,
Greece, Turkey, Belgium, Portugal, the USA and Japan.
He participated and sold his own pictures by auction of Sotby
in London in 1989
He is a bearer of the „Plovdiv” prize in1999, the
second prize from the International biennial „Malta”-
1997, the honoured prize„Malta” - 1998

Valchan
Petrov was born on 18 May 1947 in Hisar. He finished the High
school of Fine Arts in Sofia in 1966, monumental arts at the National
Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia in the classes of Professor George
Bogdanov and Professor Mitjo Tapovski in 1975. He is a member
of the Union of Bulgarian artists since 1979.
His first independent exhibition was in 1976. From 1976 to 2003
he participated in 48 independent and collective exhibitions in
Bulgaria and abroad. His monumental works decorate buildings in
Plovdiv, Sofia, Montana, Primorsko and Italy. His pictures are
property of the National Art Gallery, the Public Art Gallery in
Sofia, Art Galleries in Plovdiv, Dobrich, Pleven, Kjustendil,
Pernik, Smolian, Kardjali, Blagoevgrad, Vratza, Lovech, Veliko
Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Jambol, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Klisura,
as well as private collections in Bulgaria, Europe, the United
States of America, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Japan.
He is a bearer of the big prize from the Fourth International
Competition for miniature in Canada - 1989, the first prize from
the International Competition for Painting in Canada - 1990, the
first prize about painting in France - 1998, a silver medal from
the president of the countryside Alps and Cote d'Azure in France
- 1998, the second prize for mural painting in Italy - 1994, the
big prize of the fifth salon for arts in The National Palace of
Culture, Sofia, 2000.

Dimitar
Kirov was born on 20 May 1935 in Istanbul, Turkey. He finished
monumental arts in the National Academy of Fine Arts, Sofia in
the class of Professor George Bogdanov in 1959. He is a member
of the Union of Bulgarian artists since 1963.
His first independent exhibition was in 1963. From 1963 to 2003
he participated in a lot of independent and collective exhibitions
in Plovdiv, Sofia, Varna and Burgas. His pictures were exhibited
in France, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Turkey, Russia, Armenia,
Gruzia, Lithuania, Japan, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark and
Greece.
His pictures are property of galleries and private collections
in Europe, America, Asia and Australia.
He is a bearer of prizes „Sofia” and „Plovdiv”,
the prize „Vladimir Dimitrov - The Master”, „Zahari
Zograf” and „Zlatjo Bojadjiev”. He is an honoured
art worker, a people's artist, an honoured citizen of Plovdiv,
a Bearer of Legion of Honour of France for culture, a silver medal
from Joan Pavel II the Pope.

Nikolaj
Kuchkov was born on 21 May 1948 in Mezdra. He finished the High
School of Fine Arts in Sofia during 1962 - 1964, the National
Academy of Fine Arts in Havana in the class Professor Servani
Kabrera Moreno in 1967. He finished monumental arts in the University
of „St. St. Kiril and Metodii” in Veliko Tarnovo in
the classes of Professor Vassil Stoilov and Professor Nikola Genov
in 1973. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian artists since
1978 and the “Philippopolis” group - 1991.
His first independent exhibition was in 1979. From 1979 to 2003
he participated in 11 independent and collective exhibitions in
Plovdiv and Sofia. He had participations and exhibitions in Holland,
Poland, Greece, Germany, Hungary, Harvatia and Russia.
His monumental works decorate buildings in Plovdiv, Karlovo, Topolovo
and Saint Petersburg. His pictures are property of the National
Art Gallery, the Public Art Gallery in Sofia, the State Art Gallery
- Plovdiv, as well as the private collections in Bulgaria, Poland,
Germany, Holland, Croatia, Russia and the USA.
He is a bearer of prize „Plovdiv”, 2000, for fine
art and the prize „Sword of Romfea”, 2000.

Hristo
Stefanov was born on 15 February 1931 in Burgas. He finished painting
in the National Academy of Fine Arts - Sofia, in the classes of
Professor Balkanski and Panajotov in 1956. He is a member of the
Union of Bulgarian artists since 1961.
His first independent exhibition was in 1961. From 1961 to 2003
he participated in a lot of independent and collective exhibitions
in Yugoslavia, Moldova, Ukraine, Turkey, Czechia, Cuba, Bermudas,
Kuwait and Spain.
His monumental works, French mosaic and glass-staining, decorate
buildings in Plovdiv, Sofia - The National Palace of Culture,
Blagoevgrad, Albena, Burgas, Pazardzik, Karlovo, Buzludja, Sopot,
Bon, Paris, etc.
He had participations in international exhibitions in Poland,
France, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Greece and Russia. His pictures
are property of the National Art Gallery and the Public Art Gallery,
Sofia, and 12 Bulgarian galleries and private collections in Bulgaria,
Europe, North and South America.
He is a bearer of prize „Burgas”, the prize „Plovdiv”,
„Gold rose” from The film festival in Varna, 1972,
the prize „Ivan Petrov”. He is an honoured art worker
and people's artists, „A gold feather” for special
merit in the sphere of culture, a medal „St. St. Kiril and
Metodii” I class, a medal „Stara Planina” I
class. He was awarded with a gold medal „Dostoinomu”
and an honoured academic of the Russian Art Academy.
